Frigidaire Washing Machine Error Codes
15 error codes with causes and fixes
- EF0Aqua control triggered—leak or over-foamingEF0 on Frigidaire front-load washers means the aqua control sensor in the base pan detected moisture, or excessive foam mimicked a leak. The door may lock and the drain pump can run until the condition clears.
- EF1Drain filter or pump blockedEF1 means water could not drain within the expected time—the drain filter is blocked or the pump cannot move water. Frigidaire Electrolux platforms stop the cycle to prevent standing water.
- EF2Excessive detergent foam during drainEF2 is an over-sudsing fault detected during drain phases. Foam can trip aqua control and prevent the drum from reaching proper spin speed.
- EF3Aqua control safety mode activeEF3 means the aqua control system latched into safety mode—similar to EF0 but often after repeated foam or leak events. The machine may run the drain pump continuously.
- EF4Low incoming water pressure or flow meter faultEF4 appears when fill pressure is too low or the flow meter sees no pulse during fill. The washer cannot confirm adequate water entry.
- EF5Hot water inlet NTC temperature faultEF5 means the hot water inlet thermistor read out of range. Temperature-controlled fills on Electrolux-built Frigidaire washers cannot proceed without valid hot-side feedback.
- EF6Motor triac or drive circuit faultEF6 indicates the motor drive triac or inverter stage faulted. The drum may not turn during wash or spin even though the door is locked.
- EF7Door lock mechanism faultEF7 means the door lock circuit failed—often triggered by foam, leaks, or a broken latch motor. The washer will not fill or spin until lock feedback is valid.
- EF8Water level pressure sensor faultEF8 means the pressure switch or transducer did not report a valid water level during fill or drain.
- EF9Tacho generator signal missingEF9 means the tachometer on the motor did not send speed feedback for several seconds. Spin and wash profiles stop without RPM confirmation.
- EF10Pressure switch stuck or inconsistentEF10 is a secondary pressure fault—the switch state did not change when water entered or left the tub.
- EF11Heating circuit or NTC wash temperature faultEF11 means the washer could not heat water to the selected temperature—common on models with internal heaters or strict temperature monitoring.
- EF12Communication error between UI and controlEF12 means the display board and main control lost serial communication. Buttons and cycle progress may freeze.
- EF13Control EEPROM or memory verification failedEF13 indicates corrupted non-volatile memory on the main control. Cycle tables and calibration may be invalid.
- EF14Unbalanced load cannot be correctedEF14 means repeated unbalance detection—the drum could not reach spin speed after multiple redistribution attempts.
