Bosch Dishwasher Error Codes
16 error codes with causes and fixes
- E15Water detected in the base flood panE15 means the leakage protection float in the sealed base pan detected water. Bosch cuts inlet flow and refuses all cycles until the pan is dry—turn off the water supply at the wall when E15 first appears.
- E24Drain filter blocked or pump cover looseE24 displays when water remains in the tub after the drain pump runs—Bosch's most common owner-fixable code. The drain filter, loose pump cover, or blocked hose prevents water from falling below the level sensor.
- E09Heat pump internal heater faultE09 indicates a heat pump internal heater fault on Bosch 800 Series and Benchmark dishwashers with CrystalDry or Zeolite drying. Sanitize and heavy cycles abort when wash water or dry air cannot reach target temperature.
- E14Flow meter not detecting inlet waterE14 means flow meter failure or inadequate fill—the reed-switch flow sensor at the inlet did not register expected pulses while the inlet valve was open. Cycles may stop before wash begins or mid-fill with E14.
- E01Heat pump motor circuit fault at control boardE01 means a heat pump motor circuit fault at the main control board—the drive that circulates refrigerant in CrystalDry heat-pump dishwashers is not responding. The dishwasher may not start or may stop during dry phase with E01.
- E02Main control board relay faultE02 reports a main control board relay fault—the power module relay that switches heater, pump, or valve circuits failed self-test or welded shut. Random cycle aborts or failure to start are common with E02.
- E04Heater electronics failed self-testE04 means the dishwasher detected faulty heater electronics during power-on self-test—the heat pump or flow-through heater circuit read out of specification before any cycle began. Distinct from E09 which occurs during operation.
- E05Wash arm diverter circuit faultE05 indicates a wash arm diverter circuit fault at the main control board—the motor that switches water between upper and lower spray arms did not respond. Poor wash performance on one rack may precede E05 on AutoAir and PowerControl models.
- E06Door sensor circuit faultE06 reports a door sensor circuit fault—the switch that confirms the door is latched before fill did not send a valid signal. Bosch prevents water fill when E06 is active to avoid mid-cycle door leaks.
- E07CrystalDry Zeolite fan motor defectiveE07 means the Zeolite (CrystalDry) fan motor is defective—the fan that moves air through the zeolite chamber for efficient drying did not report speed to the board. Dishes may wash but stay wet at cycle end with E07.
- E08Heat exchanger or turbidity sensor faultE08 on select Bosch dishwashers flags a heat exchanger or water-quality sensor fault—the internal heat exchanger that preheats inlet water sent readings outside range. Often appears in hard-water areas after months without descaling.
- E10Zeolite chamber heater faultE10 indicates a Zeolite (CrystalDry) chamber heater fault—the heater that regenerates the zeolite material for efficient drying did not reach target temperature. Premium Bosch models show E10 during or after the dry phase when dishes remain wet.
- E12Limescale buildup in the heat pumpE12 means limescale buildup in the heat pump—the sealed drying circuit cannot transfer heat efficiently until descaled. Bosch displays E12 before more serious E09 heater faults if scaling continues unchecked.
- E13Hot water inlet valve or thermistor faultE13 on many Bosch dishwashers indicates a fault in the hot water inlet path—the valve or inlet thermistor did not deliver water at expected temperature within the fill window. Models plumbed to hot-only supply show E13 when the household water heater is distant or set too low.
- E16Water not entering the tub correctlyE16 (often paired with E17 on some firmware) means water is not entering the dishwasher correctly—the fill system timed out or the level stayed too low after the inlet valve opened. Distinct from E14 which specifically flags the flow meter.
- E22Filter blocked or not locked in placeE22 on Bosch dishwashers indicates the drain filter is clogged, missing, or not locked—the wash system monitors filter presence and flow before draining.
