What this error means
tE1 is a thermistor sub-fault on LG condenser and heat-pump dryers—the sensor at the inlet heat exchanger sent resistance outside the board's valid range. Unlike exhaust tE, tE1 points to the cooler inlet path where lint and condensate collect.
How TE1 is detected
When TE1 appears on a LG dryer, the control board has confirmed that water did not leave the machine within the programmed drain window. On LG DLHC5502W, LG DLHC1455W, and similar variants, the drain pump runs for a fixed interval—often three to seven minutes on washers and dishwashers—while a pressure switch or turbidity sensor verifies the tub or sump is empty. If water remains, the cycle stops to prevent spin with a full tub or overflow on the next fill.
Most TE1 calls are resolved without parts: unplug the dryer and vacuum the condenser coil behind the lower front panel per your model guide. Restricted drain paths mimic pump failure because the impeller spins against a blocked hose or filter.
