What this error means

D80 is a Flow Sense warning that roughly 80% of exhaust airflow is blocked. LG gas and electric dryers measure blower strain; when hot humid air cannot exit, the display shows D80 and drying times stretch far beyond normal.

Common causes

  • Lint packed into the elbow behind the dryer
  • Crushed or kinked flexible vent hose against the wall
  • Exterior vent hood flap stuck closed by lint or a bird nest
  • Long duct run with multiple 90° bends exceeding LG length limits

Step-by-step fixes

  1. 1Pull and wash the lint screen—then vacuum the lint screen housing slot
  2. 2Unplug the dryer, disconnect the rear vent hose, and vacuum lint from both hose ends
