Samsung Dryer nF Error Code
Steam water supply not detected
What this error means
nF (Not Filling) on Samsung steam dryers appears when the steam generator valve opens but no water arrives—similar to washer 4E but for the auxiliary steam line. Non-steam models may show nF for other fill-related faults; confirm steam kit installation.
How NF is detected
Samsung dryer models lock the door or lid before energizing fill, heat, or high-speed spin. NF means the latch switch never sent a "locked" signal to the main control, or the lock motor did not complete its travel. On Samsung DVE50M7450P, Samsung DV50F9A6EVP, and similar variants, clothing caught in the gasket, a misaligned strike, or a failed latch assembly are the most common mechanical causes—not the board itself.
Inspect the door gasket perimeter and strike alignment before replacing the latch. Steam supply valve closed at the wall tee is reported frequently on this code. After correcting mechanical issues, open the dedicated cold tap feeding the steam y-connector fully. If the latch clicks but NF persists, the door lock switch or wiring harness to the control board likely needs testing with a multimeter.
Do not force the door open during an active cycle; wait for the lock to release when the board de-energizes the lock motor—usually two to three minutes after canceling power on most Samsung units.
Common causes
- Steam supply valve closed at the wall tee
- Kinked thin steam inlet hose behind the dryer
- Clogged screen at the steam solenoid connection
- Failed steam inlet valve or flow sensor
Step-by-step fixes
- 1Open the dedicated cold tap feeding the steam Y-connector fully
- 2Inspect the ¼-inch steam hose for sharp bends at the rear panel
- 3Run a Steam Refresh cycle and listen for valve click and water enter
- 4Confirm the steam kit was installed per manual—some models ship without steam enabled
When to call a technician
Water at the hose fitting with dry steam output during Steam cycle means valve or generator service.
Affected models
- Samsung DVE50M7450P
- Samsung DV50F9A6EVP
- Samsung DVE45R6300V
Prevention & maintenance
- Wipe the door gasket weekly and avoid overloading items against the seal—NF often starts as a slow leak or latch misalignment.
- Record when NF appears in the cycle and whether it clears after a 60-second power reset on your Samsung dryer—that detail speeds diagnosis if you call service.
- Keep the model and serial number from the rating plate when ordering parts for NF; Samsung uses multiple revisions with different harness lengths and board firmware.
- Photograph wiring connector orientation before disconnecting any component while troubleshooting NF; reversed plugs on pumps and valves cause immediate repeat faults.
