Maytag Washing Machine F0E4 Error Code
Spin limited by high rinse water temperature
What this error means
F0E4 appears when rinse water temperature reads 105°F or higher. Maytag reduces final spin to about 500 RPM to protect seals and bearings from thermal shock during high-speed extraction.
Common causes
- Hot and cold supply hoses connected to the wrong faucets
- Water heater delivering above 120°F at the laundry tap
- Inlet thermistor in the mixing valve reading incorrectly
- Stuck hot-side inlet valve bleeding hot water during cold rinse
Step-by-step fixes
- 1Trace each fill hose to confirm cold connects to the blue valve and hot to red
- 2Run the nearest tap and verify hot water is not scalding before starting a wash
- 3Test inlet valves by unplugging mid-fill—water should stop within seconds
- 4Select Cold Rinse on the next cycle after correcting hose routing
When to call a technician
Correct hose routing with lukewarm tap water that still triggers F0E4 needs inlet valve and thermistor replacement.
